"I am very pleasantly surprised by the Youth Center in Plovdiv. You have a wonderful city - very green, with old trees, clean and pleasant. I am impressed by the large and wide boulevards and sidewalks, "said the mayor of Thessaloniki Yannis Boutaris at the end of his two-day visit to the city under the hills. "Every time I come here, I see that Plovdiv has become more and more beautiful and nicer," he added, and thanked for the hospitality of the mayor Ivan Totev.
Yannis Boutaris congratulated his colleague for taking good care of the Old City. The official guests also mentioned that they were surprised by how the Plovdiv government managed to breathe life into the old houses, filling them with various events, one of which is the festival "Wine and gourmet".
"Plovdiv deserves the title European Capital of Culture. This is a reward that is given to cities that can do something innovative and I believe that Plovdiv is one of them," said Yannis Boutaris.
The mayor of Thessaloniki was so impressed by the Youth Center and he said he would make a similar in the Greek city. For this purpose, he wanted to get acquainted in details with the project for establishment of the youth center, its activities - youth work and exchanges, the variety of the initiatives.
"In Thessaloniki we have the ambition to make an equally good youth center and we are very impressed by what we have seen here. We have made a special research of where there are such centers funded by money from Europe and we have found that the best one is in Plovdiv," said Boutaris.
"I am very happy with the positive assessment of my colleague Mr Boutaris because that means we are doing well and Plovdiv is developing," said Mayor Ivan Totev.Back
