First seminar lesson of "Young economist"

Economic culture and financial literacy are a prerequisite for the development of every young person and contribute to his effective participation in the civil process.

In this regard, on November 7, 2020, the Plovdiv Youth Center OP started the Young Economist training program. Within the seminars planned for one school year, 3 groups of 15 young people aged 15-20 from Plovdiv and the region will be covered, each of which will be trained within 3 months. Through their participation in the program, young people acquire invaluable skills in an extremely interesting and innovative way, learn to make optimal and informed choices, to control their incomes in the most effective way and to distribute their savings rationally. Solving practical cases and conducting role-plays contributes to easier and fuller perception of the information provided.

During the first session in November, the basic concepts and principles of economic and financial theory were introduced. The individual economic entities that determine the existence of the economic system - market, consumers, producers and the state - were distinguished. Young people have taken bold steps into the essence of the market model in which each of us participates on a daily basis. They expressed their opinion and responded to every challenge. The games and role-playing situations in which they participated combined the useful with the pleasant and the fun. The participants shared that they are looking forward to the next lesson, which will take place at the end of November.

The training program "Young Economist" is implemented as part of the project "Youth Center Plovdiv - a powerful factor for local development" under the program "Local development, poverty reduction and improved inclusion of vulnerable groups", funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014 - 2021
