"Civic Participation-Digit ON/OFF"
Take part in the tenth anniversary edition of the National Youth Meeting!

Over 150 youth workers, representatives of civil organisations, European, national and local institutions will gather to discuss the prospects for digital and non-democratic civic participation from 3 to 6 October in the city. Pazardzhik.

The tenth edition of the National Youth Meeting is organized by the Youth Association for Peace and Development on the Balkans-MSMRB and the representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria/European Commission in Bulgaria in partnership with the National Youth Forum and the municipality of Pazardzhik. Again, our main goal is to encourage civic participation in all its possible forms, and this year we put a focus on digital technologies and their role in the dialogue between citizens and institutions.

What are the questions we will look for answers to:

What are the forms of civic participation in Bulgaria and how effective are they?
How to stimulate dialogue between young people and institutions?
How to promote digital civic participation, what are the good examples from Europe and what opportunities does our membership in the European Union provide?
What are the concrete steps to introduce digital technologies into decision-making processes?

Two important reports that analyse the tendencies of development of the NGO sector among the young people-"young people in European Bulgaria" and "index of civic Participation (2017)"-show that the development of mechanisms for civic participation and partnership with the institutions in Bulgaria is poorly developed. In our country there is a tendency for young people not to participate in initiatives that involve some form of public engagement.
