On 06.07.2019 at the Youth Center - Plovdiv, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bulgaria Association held a training for mentors under the Big Brother Big Sister Program. The training is part of the "Pass It Forward" project funded by the European Solidarity Corps. Participants from Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Blagoevgrad, Sofia participated in the one-day activity.
The sessions were divided into a theoretical and practical part. The youngsters wishing to become mentors of disadvantaged children were introduced to the history of the mentoring program and the organization, with the specific cycle of Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, all the upcoming steps as well as with the characteristics of the little "brothers" and "sisters" , living in different social institutions in the city and waiting to be put in "matches" with their mentors.
The theoretical part was led by Mrs. Lena Karnalova - Executive Director of the Association.
During the practical part, Chief Assist. Dr. Ognyan Koichev, a psychologist, put the participants on the one hand in the shoes of their little "brothers" and "sisters", and on the other, in their role as mentors, through a simulation exercise.
New matches will be created in the beginning of the autumn.
