What is forum Theater?
The Forum Theatre (also known as the Theatre of the oppressed) was introduced and developed by Augusto Boal in 1960 in Brazil, during a severe authoritarian regime. Boal developed the Forum Theater method in order to give voice to the repressed, to breathe them power to fight against the violence and injustice in their lives. Because of the extreme effectiveness of the method, Boal manages to spread it in different parts of the world. Today's forum and image Theater is practiced in over 100 countries around the world.
