Beginning of the educational program for Student councils in Plovdiv

On January 12th, we launched the educational program for Student Councils in the city of Plovdiv. The first school was Akademik Blagovest Sendov High School of Informatics and Computer Sciences. Youth from 8th to 10th grade started the process of developing their student self-governance structure by going through a series of activities aimed at defining the essence of the council, establishing the main directions in which it works, functions and importance in school life.

One of the topics of discussion was the role of each of the participants as a generator of ideas according to their interests, personal characteristics, activities, dreams. Together we outlined a clear picture of strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and challenges, which will be the subject of the following classes as well.

We also conducted exercises to get to know the participants, break down stereotypes and stimulate creativity, teamwork and bonding methods.

Two more meetings are coming up at the educational institution, which will focus on the establishment of specific roles and responsibilities in the council, the process of planning an event and its practical implementation within the framework of training.

The program continues to take place in schools both in the region and in the city of Plovdiv. Its main goals are: to clarify the nature and role of student self-government, to support the development and functioning of the Student Council in the individual school, to generate ideas for future activities and to share experience and good practices.

The educational programme is realized as part of the project "Youth Centre Plovdiv - a powerful factor for local development" under the program "Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Enhanced Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups, financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021.
