During the Charity Christmas Bazaar "From Children to Children" on 10 and 11 December, we also celebrated the International Human Rights Day, provoking the participants to talk about the topic of human rights. #youth4rights

Each of them drew a card with one of the articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Then we had a short discussion about what the selected right means to him and why it is important to respect it. Many people shared personal stories related to the right they had pulled.

With those who participated in the initiative, we talked about the right to equality and the resulting discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, etc. We also talked about the right to marriage and family and what is the attitude towards same-sex marriage. We also looked for answers to the questions whether in Bulgaria every person is equal before the law and whether they receive effective legal protection. We realized that after the end of the restrictive measures as a result of the pandemic, we value our right to free movement much more. Our conversations also covered other rights such as freedom from torture and degrading treatment, right to an adequate standard of living, right to education, etc.

We had also prepared a special frame for the day, pasted with cards with different human rights, with which anyone who wanted to take a picture. You can see the smiling faces in the gallery.

In addition, participants exercised their right to free expression by taking part in our survey, which aims to explore the interests and topics of interest to a young person. By obtaining this important information, we will be able to develop future training programs and workshops to help young people build not only the knowledge and skills they desire, but also their hidden superpowers they don't even know they have!
