On April 8th we held an online event dedicated to International Roma Day. Participants had the opportunity to experience the traditions, life, culture and roots of Europe's largest minority community with the help of several interactive games and discussion.
Our special guest was Maria Atanasova, a Roma activist with experience in volunteering and social work. She told us more about her family and friends, her education at here in Bulgaria and abroad, her interests and dreams. The meeting with the winner of the “Young European of the Year" award for 2020 was filled with many positive emotions.
Our acquaintance with Maria once again proved the importance of the mission that we have accepted as ours – the unification of young people in an active civil society.
The event is part of the project "Youth Centre Plovdiv - a powerful factor for local development" under the program "Local development, poverty reduction and improved inclusion of vulnerable groups", funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014 - 2021.
