🎉 Sports hall "Danube" is already a fact. The Mayor of Plovdiv Municipality, Mr. Kostadin Dimitrov, officially opened the new multifunctional sports complex, located at 124 Dunav Blvd.
🍀According to an old Bulgarian custom, the new jewel of the city was opened with a solemn water festival for health and well-being. The official guests of the event were the chairman of the Plovdiv Municipal Council - Atanas Uzunov, the deputy mayors: Nikolay Bukhalov, Zhenya Petkova, Ivan Stoyanov, Savina Petkova, Angel Slavov, engineer Tosho Pashov, the mayor of the Northern District Vencislava Lyubenova, the municipal councilor Georgi Tityukov, the president of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation and Olympic medalist from the Atlanta Games Krasimir Dunev and the president of the Bulgarian Aerobics Union Dimitrina Kandeva.
🏅The cutting of the ribbon was honored with the presence of the Olympic medalists (listed in alphabetical order): Alexander Hristov (boxing), Ani Uzunova (volleyball), Bozhidar Milenkov (kayak), Diana Paliyska (kayak), Krasimira Mircheva - daughter of Todor Diev (football), Magdalena Georgieva (rowing), Rumen Alexandrov (weightlifting), Stoyan Gunchev (volleyball), Stoyanka Gruycheva (rowing) and world and European champions Venelina Poptoleva (boxing) and Stanilia Stamenova (canoe-kayak). Sports journalist and former handball player Iliya Kisimov, as well as many of his colleagues, were also part of the sports celebration. World and European medalists in aerobics also graced the event with their presence.
🏆Especially for the opening of the sports hall, the Plovdiv Youth Center team prepared an interesting museum exhibition called "Sports glory of the city of Plovdiv". It housed the belongings of some of the most famous sports names of the city, who made Plovdiv and Bulgaria famous at the European, world and Olympic level (listed in alphabetical order): Alexander Hristov (boxing equipment and shoes), Ani Uzunova (volleyball ball) . The guests touched their sporting treasures, and some had the honor of meeting them live, taking pictures and chatting.

📹 During the opening, videos containing summarized statistics on the number of medals won by the people of Plovdiv from European, world and Olympic championships were projected. Pride gave rise to the fact that Plovdiv's European triumphs totaled 505 medals (from 1949 to 2023), World medals totaled 285 (from 1949 to 2023) and Olympic medals totaled 52 (from 1956 to 2004). ).
📖In addition, the "Book of Messages" passed through the hands of all former and current athletes who, in addition to leaving a mark on the pages of Plovdiv history, also left a mark on that of the Danube Hall.
✏️All visitors to the event placed their wishes on hand-made medals, which will be kept as a memory, but will also be left at the main entrance for future guests of the hall.
