📍During the April edition of the "Business Meetings" series, our young people had the opportunity to visit the family bee farm "Bormaliyski" and touch the magic and essence of honey production.
🐝The hospitable meeting with the founder Boris Bormaliyski was extremely fruitful and interesting. The young people received valuable information on creating a successful business, on recruitment, development and preservation of bee colony species, on the difficulties and challenges in agriculture that arise on the entrepreneur's path and useful advice, encouraging young people to be motivated for success and realization.
Bee farm "Bormaliyski" was established in 1942 by Boris Bormaliyski. He created two apiaries from a total of 60 bee families, located in the foothills of Sredna Gora above Hisarya.
In 2003, his grandson, also bearing his name - Boris Bormaliyski, decided to continue and develop the craft handed down by his grandfather.
He does it quite successfully and already in 2008 he was elected the No. 1 Beekeeper of Bulgaria.
To date, Boris Bormaliyski is the Chairman of the "Professional Beekeeping Association", a lecturer at beekeeping events and a consultant to other beekeeping farms.
Bee farm "Bormaliyski" keeps more than 1100 bee families.
The main activity of the farm is extraction of natural bee products - honey, wax, bee pollen, propolis. Mobile beekeeping is practiced, and during the active season the hives are transported to the municipalities of Hisarya, Karlovo, Kaloyanovo and Saedinenie. The bee families are placed mainly on acacia, linden, sunflower and meadow pastures, and in certain years coriander, lavender and manna pastures are used.
🔎The activity is implemented under the project "Youth Center Plovdiv - a powerful factor for local development" under the program "Local development, poverty reduction and improved inclusion of vulnerable groups", financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021.
