Upcoming presentation of the book The Golden Pages of Plovdiv Rowing

On October 6 2022, at 5:00 p.m. in the Meteor hall of the ME Youth Centre Plovdiv, the official public presentation of the book The Golden Pages of Plovdiv Rowing will take place. You will be able to learn more about its writing as well as interesting facts contained within its pages.

During the event, the Youth Centre team will tell you more about the process of preserving our city's sports archive, as well as placing it in the digital world in the form of the first ever Sports Museum website.

In 2014 Youth Centre Plovdiv began working on the preservation and promotion of Plovdiv's sports history. Thanks to the sports journalist Iliya Kisimov, several significant projects were realized, which seal the stories of Plovdiv success.

These are the Olympic Medalist's Club, the Olympic Walk of Fame, as well as a digitized archive of over 90,000 photographs, as a result of which the Museum of Sports was created - a website that brought together personalities, clubs, stadiums, sports facilities, past and future evemts in one place.

The book The Golden Pages of Plovdiv Rowing by Iliya Kisimov is another proof of the unceasing fire of each of the successes of the people of Plovdiv. The idea of writing it came from Stoyanka Gruycheva and Siika Kelbecheva - the first Olympic champions of our city.’

The nine sections of the almanac are spread over 431 pages and contain many photographs from the personalities' personal archives. The place of Bulgarian and specifically Plovdiv rowing is best seen in the published results of the Olympic Games, World and European Championships for all age groups.

The publication of the book is carried out with the help of the huge family of Plovdiv oarsmen. This is one of the great merits of this work. The invaluable support of the Plovdiv Municipality, TAFPRINT printing house and Trakia-Press publishing house was also received.
