On September 3, ME Youth Center Plovdiv took part in the workshop "Creating a place" - Placemaking with youth in one of the emblematic youth spaces in the city of Plovdiv – Yadroto (The Core), Kapana.
Every child, youth, citizen had the opportunity to share their ideas on how the place could be improved. For its part, the Center's team conducted an nonformal activity directly related to the presentation of the Revised European Charter for the participation of young people in the life of municipalities and regions, and in particular - the definition of "youth participation" and a comment on the sectoral policies laid down in the charter.
The activity started with the presentation of the 5 main prerequisites for youth participation, known in the charter as the RMSOS approach to participation - right, means, space, opportunity, support.
Examples of forms of youth participation were discussed. The next step was for the young people in groups to build the so-called Diamond of policies for the Plovdiv - to what extent individual youth policies are relevant for young people, youth organizations and local governing bodies.
A presentation followed, in which everyone defended the arrangement of individual policies with examples. The possibility and means by which the least current policies could be ranked higher in the diamond were discussed.
