Council of Europe Quality Label

In 2008, the European Steering Committee on Youth set up a project in which the two European Youth Centers of the Council of Europe (in Strasbourg and Budapest) were defined as a standard in the field of youth work.

The project contains two main components:

“Quality Label” for youth centers of the Council of Europe to be awarded to youth centers that meet certain criteria;
European Platform of Youth Centers - an annual meeting of management of youth centers, aiming to establish partnerships and exchange good practices, as well as to motivate the center to apply for "Quality Label".

These two components set standards in the field of non-formal education and international youth policies and activities.

The "Quality Label" is an international recognition that contributes to the promotion of the centers at local and European level and supports them in achieving their goals.

In 2017, the team of M.E. "Youth Center Plovdiv" initiated the procedure for applying for "Quality Label". In September the same year, an expert commission from the Council of Europe visit the center to make an overall assessment of the activities and programs on the basis of the award criteria. During the visit, the vision, the mission, the goals for strategic development of the center and the training programs were discussed. As a result, the commission draws up an assessment, with an emphasis on the exceptional infrastructure specifically designed to provide space for young people. The strong support from local authorities has been identified as a significant advantage for the center. A distinctive feature of the overall work of the center are the specialized programs for support of young people from vulnerable groups.

After the visit, the expert commission prepared a report to the European Steering Committee on Youth, which decided to award M.E. "Youth Center Plovdiv" with the "Quality Label" for an initial period of three years (2018-2020). During this period, the center is expected to work on recommendations for further development and promotion of its good practices.
