On September 13, 2019, one of the most significant projects of „Youth Center Plovdiv" –"Alley of Olympic Glory" was completed and the alley was officially opened. This is the first and only, one of a kind establishment in Bulgaria, which brings together the stories of the greatest sportspeople. The alley is situated at the Regatta venue Plovdiv and on special plates are placed the personal stories of 46 Olympic medalists, who won 52 medals for the period 1956-2004. For the development of the plates, over 30 000 photos of the city’s sport archive are scanned and stored.
Inspirational meetings between the medalists and the young people are held which aim at creating generational renewal, to support young people and to motivate them to participate actively in the development of the city and the country. It is the sport that brings people together and thus more than 450 people took part in the event. The club of the "Olympic Medalist" established at Youth Center Plovdiv in 2017 has set high goals for finding the mechanisms to motivate for sport practicing, keeping up a healthy lifestyle and inclusion of vulnerable groups.
It is planned in the upcoming years joint activities of the club and the youth center to be implemented. The same will aim at the active engagement of children, young people and parents in socially significant causes and the development of a long – term strategy for education through sport.
