Blagovest Stoyanov - Canoe

 

Born on 21.03.1968 in Plovdiv

At the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games Blagovest Stoyanov won a bronze medal at C2 – 500 m and took sixth place at C2 – 1,000 m. In 1996, in Atlanta, USA, he took fourth place at C2 – 1,000 m and fifth place at C2 – 500 m.

At the 1993 World Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark, Stoyanov won sixth place at C2 – 500 m; in 1994 in Mexico City, Mexico he won a bronze medal at C2 – 500 m and sixth place at C2 – 200 m; in 1995 in Duisburg, Germany, he was bronze medalist at C2 – 200 m, and took fifth place at C2 – 500 m and sixth at C2 – 1,000 m.

Stoyanov started practicing canoeing in 1981 under Lyuben Drandarov and from 1990 until 1998 he trained with Filip Duhovnikov. Since his admission to the Vasil Levski Sports School until 1987 he trained with the Asenovets team and for the next two years he served his military service in the team of CSKA, after which he was part of the team of Trakiya (Plovdiv), where he ended his sports career. Since 2017 Stoyanov has been a member of the Management Board of the team of Trakiya (Plovdiv).
