(11.06.1965 – 23.07.2006) Lalka Berberova is an Olympic vice-champion at double scull without helmsman from Seoul, South Korea in 1988. She participated at the 1983 World Junior Championship in Vichy, France, where she took fifth place at double scull without helmsman. At the 1984 Druzhba Olympic Tournament in Moscow, Russia, she was second at eight scull. In 1985, at the World Championships in Hazeninkel, Belgium, she was sixth at double scull without helmsman. Berberova took part in the 1986 World Cup in Nottingham, UK, where she was fifth at quad scull with helmsman, and in 1989 in Bled, Slovenia, she was fourth at eight scull with helmsman and fifth at quad scull without helmsman. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, Berberova took ninth place at quad scull. Lalka Berberova graduated from the Vasil Levski Sports School. She started practicing rowing in 1982 with the coach Georgi Yankov. She also worked with Nenko Dobrev. Berberova competed for the Trakiya Army Sports Society, as well as for the national team. After the Olympic medal, she took ninth place among the top ten athletes of Bulgaria in 1988. Berberova retired from active sports activity in 1993. Lalka Berberova is holder of the honorary sign of Plovdiv.
