Petar Zapryanov - Sport shooting

 

Born on 23.03.1959 in Plovdiv

Petar Zapryanov is a bronze medalist from the 1980 Moscow Olympics in Russia in the discipline 50 meter rifle prone. He was also a winner of the same discipline at the Druzhba tournament in Moscow, Russia, in 1984. Zapryanov participated in two world and several European championships. From international tournaments he has won over 10 gold and silver medals. In 1981 he set an absolute record in his discipline – 600 out of 600 possible points. For a period of 12 years he was the best Bulgarian competitor with a small caliber rifle. Zapryanov was part of the national team for more than 15 years.

He started practicing sport shooting in 1975 under the trainer Atanas Chitanov and later under Evgeni Binev in Maritsa (Plovdiv). He competed with a pneumatic and a small caliber rifle.
