Stefka Madina - Rowing

 

Born on 23.01.1963 in Plovdiv

Stefka Madina won a bronze medal at double sculls in the Seoul 1988 Olympics in South Korea. In 1987 she won a gold medal in World Rowing Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark at double sculls with Violeta Ninova. Madina is silver medalist at quadruple sculls from the Druzhba 84 regatta. At the same boat class she became third in the world in Duisburg, Germany in 1983, fifth in Hazenwinkel, Belgium in 1985, and fourth in Nottingham, Great Britain in 1986.

Madina reached her best achievements in rowing under the coaching of Lyuben Golev at Trakiya Army Sports Society, where she started training in 1974. She has been part of the national rowing team since 1982, where she worked with the coach Yordan Valchev.

She worked in the Ministry of Defense as a financier until her retirement and as Secretary General of the Bulgarian Rowing Federation. She is a FISA International Umpire.
