The Regatta Venue in the city of Plovdiv is a sport facility designed for rowing and canoeing. It is located in the Recreation and Culture Park, next to Stadium Plovdiv. This is the largest base of its kind on the Balkans, where rowing competitions can be held. In 2011, repairs worth BGN 1.6 million were carried out. The hangars of the rowers, the locker rooms have been renovated, and a new tribune is being built for about 800 spectators.
The city of Plovdiv and the Regatta Venue are the home of a number of local rowing and canoeing clubs. The channel hosts regattas, State, Republican, European and World championships.
From 11 to 15 August 2021 Plovdiv hosted the World Rowing Championship for boys and girls under 23 years. 902 competitors from 43 countries took part in it. The opportunities for sports and entertainment are numerous - from cycling and rowing lessons, to paintball and yoga.
Plovdiv is the first Bulgarian city to be entitled as "European City of Sports for 2014". The city has many sports facilities and football stadiums. The largest sport center in Bulgaria - sports complex "Plovdiv" is here. The complex, which is located in the northernwest part of the city, includes a stadium for 55,000 spectators, the largest rowing canal on the Balkans, an indoor swimming pool, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and an athletics track. It encompasses sport halls, halls for rhythmic gymnastics, basketball and handball with areas: up to 80m², 80–160m², over 160m², indoor and outdoor tennis courts, petanque court, beach volleyball court, indoor swimming pool.
The citizen of Plovdiv can now be also proud of the Club of the Olympic medalist. The idea started from an exhibition in 2014, when Plovdiv was a European city of sport, which showed the sporting success of the city. The idea is supported by Municipal Enterprise "Youth Center Plovdiv".
The management of M.E. "Youth Center Plovdiv" believes that the construction of a Museum of Sports in Plovdiv is most appropriate to be at the Regatta Venue, because it is the most attractive place for sport and active events in the city.
