Project "Establishing a youth center in the city of Plovdiv"

In 2014, the Minister of Education and Science Prof. Anelia Klisarova presented to Georgi Tityukov, Deputy Mayor „Sports, Youth Activities and Social Policy“ at the Municipality of Plovdiv, a contract for the project "Establishing a youth center in the city of Plovdiv" under Program "Children and youth at risk", Component 1 - "Care for young people at risk", funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009-2014.

The project aims to create a youth center by building appropriate infrastructure and introducing programs and services for young people aged 15-29. The aim of the programs and activities implemented by the team of the center is to meet the requirements for obtaining the "Quality Label" - a modern standard of Council of Europe in youth work.

The construction of a youth center at the Regatta Venue in Plovdiv began in January 2015. On November 19 the same year, the newly built center was opened during an official ceremony. The event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sport Krasen Kralev, the Mayor of the city Ivan Totev, the Deputy Mayor Georgi Tityukov, the Ambassador of Norway her excellency Guru Katerina Vikyor, Ivan Modev from the Ministry of Education and Science, municipal councilors and other officials. With this ceremony starts the work of the first of a kind youth center on the territory of Plovdiv, which is created with the idea of providing the young people with the space and conditions for their personal and professional development, for provoking their creativity and at the same time to work toward international cooperation and multicultural dialogue. 

The project exceeds the expected results in terms of the number of young people engaged in the activities. This way the center is recognized by young people as a place which provides them with an opportunity to turn their ideas into projects.

Since May 2017 by the order of a Municipal Council of Plovdiv, the center has become a municipal enterprise.
